Type of Dad: Dads with Multiples

What's unique about your experience because of the Type of Dad you are?

My experience is unique because I have one stepson and two biological children.

Please tell us what it's like to walk a mile in your shoes?

A never-ending race where every day could be a new experience as soon as I walk in the door, but then I hear "Daddy's home"! And then it's all good after.

Who have you become since you became a father?

Since becoming a father, I've become a guide of life lessons, a disciplinarian, a husband, a therapist, & most importantly, a best friend.

What are some of the unforgettable moments that you hold dear?

Some moments I hold dear would have to be the birth of my two biological kids, my stepson looking to me as a confidant, and just watching them all grow to be the best little people they can be.

What are some of your challenges/wins as a Dad?

Some challenges being a father are the kids only wanting to listen to mommy sometimes, having to juggle work life and home life on a regular, and the need to not only have to but the want to support my family. The look in their not so little faces is a big win for me, being able to tuck them in at night is a win for me, being able to see little things that I do rub off on them positively lets me know I'm doing the right thing.

What/who are your influences/influencers?

My biggest influences would have to be my dad, who taught me to support my family, my mom, who showed me how to care, and my older brothers, who are always there for me.

What were the three best decisions you've ever made as a Dad?

My first best decision I've made as a dad would have to be instilling self-confidence in my kids, today's society will break you down, so you have to let them know confidence is key.

My second best decision would have to be being my kid's biggest cheerleader, I let them know I love them all the time and that I have their backs no matter what.

How are you making an impact now with your family, community, life?

I'm making an impact with my family by showing them what it means to not only be a man and stand for what's right but how to support them financially, emotionally, and spiritually.

What's some of the best advice you've received as a man? Best advice you've given?

Some of the best advice I've received was before I became a man, and that was my dad showing that as long as you have a trade or knowledge of some skill, you'll never go hungry because you will always be able to make money.

How do you want to be remembered? What does legacy mean to you?

I want to be remembered as a dad who was always there for his kids and family. One that did whatever he had to do to make their lives easier. I'm not worried much about my legacy, I want the memory of me to stand out in their minds, I want my kids to know and understand that I have and will always do anything for them.
